Last night I was watching a movie. It has been a while since last time, if I remember right, it was in spring, Wallace and Gromit. So maybe it was again a time to go watch something.
About a month ago I saw a trailer of Eragon and it seemed a good movie. So it was my choice yesterday. And I have to admit, it was not so bad. Okay, it was quite typical fantasy movie, good vs evil style but still, it was enjoyable. There were some parts which could be taken directly from Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. Eragon also had an old man which as once in the history something greater, just like Obi-Wan in Star Wars. And Eragon also had a betrayer. So quite many similarities to other movies. But it was still quite good movie, specially when it was based on the novel, which was written by 15-year-old. Comparing to texts I wrote when I was fifteen, I am stunned. That was actually a good story. Well, of course movie is different than the book but still, it is hard to make a good movie from a horrible book, so when the movie was good, the book must be also.

So, it has been again a while. For some reason I am more than lazy to write here what has happened.
My summer job was finally over in the end of Autumn. After one year and three months the project was over, money was spent and my work was done. Next project was supposed to start in september but when september came I find out that that was not true. They was going to apply project-money in the middle of september and I still haven’t heard anything that funding is okay. I was promised that maybe a department could hire me as part-time to administrate our computer class system but when I started to ask more about it I just heard nothing. After all I got a good job-offer from JJ-Net Group Oy and it did not need a lot of thinking to accept only job-offer I got at that time. So there I am now, administrating systems and servers at JJ-Net Group Oy.
A good thing about changing job is that now I have less hours to do in a week so in theory I have more time to study. Last year was a little… well not success to my studies and at the moment I am a little behind of my schedule. My great idea to this autumn is trying to catch my studies. I have planned that I could get B.Sc before 2008. But that will left to see if I manage to study enough.
And finally to the subject. Couple weeks ago my old computer teacher contacted me and asked if I had a time to keep couple of her lessons. And luckily I had and I was able to go and try what teaching is like. I had kept course practices of our department lecture in Autumn 2005 but teaching in university is quite different from teaching in comprehensive school. I had to keep couple computer lessons and couple lessons of mathematics. For my great surprise, teaching in comprehensive school was quite fun. Well, teaching continues when I got another substitute teacher job next week, this time also mathematics but this time I also had to remember some chemistry. And teaching was still quite fun and interesting. I don’t think that I would became full-time teacher but sometimes doing some substitute teacher jobs is quite good option. And of course, as student all money I can get is always a good thing.
What comes to my studies, maybe most important thing of this autumn is my secondary subject studies. I still exploring what I would take as my secondary subject but at the moment I am sitting in biotechnology lecture and I have to admit that this is very interesting subject. This is most definitely one of my secondary subjects but still, anything is possible. Maybe it is best thing to do planning after I see how this exam goes.

Missing serial sticker was luckily just a service mistake, they forgot to transfer sticker from old case to a new one so it was easily fixed. But no-one seems to know if it is possible to program serial number back to motherboard in Finland. Well, service is resolving that and I hope that I hear next week if it is possible.

I got my laptop back today. It was actually sooner than I thought, so nice work everyone
So, after all my laptop got a new bottom case and a new motherboard. And all these repairs caused one interesting side effect, my laptop seems to be missing a serial number. There was a sticker earlier on bottom case - not anymore. OS X told me in the about dialog computer’s serial number - not anymore. I don’t know if this is what should happen when motherboard gets changed but I still don’t like it. There is nothing now on my laptop that identifies it and links it to me. Earlier there was serial number that is registered with me so in case someone steals this, it can be tracked down. But not anymore. Well, I just have to contact Apple again and try to get my serial numbers back to my computer.

This is a weird weekend to me. It has been quite a long time since last time when I did not had laptop. It has been a while ago when I first ntoiced that its case was a little broken. A battery did not fit anymore nicely to case and case was pulling out above the CD-ROM drive which was sometimes causing that CDs did not came out from drive. And finally it still wobbles on a table which was also quite irretating.
So I finally called to Apple on Monday and ordered service to it. Service was good, I just went to local stoe to show my laptop and then they ordered needes parts and they called me on Thursday that I can bring my laptop to service. And it all went just fine, I was waiting on Friday a call that tells me that my laptop is ready to pick up but no… They did call me on Friday but just to inform me that my laptop’s motherboard also had something wrong and it will be replaced also. Unfortunately it takes couple businessday to ship a new motherboard from Holland so no laptop on this weekend.
So, now I have to try to remember what I did before I had my laptop… Luckily I still have my desktop PC

It has been a while when I wrote last time. But better late than never…
I had to wait for two weeks for my own bicycle until I got it back from repairing but now I have it and it has all new components. And it is much nicer to cycle than with old components. Or it is just that winter has gone and so is stunned tires, so it is generally much easier to cycle now. Who knows?
I have also cycled quite well with my new bike but still I should bike much more. I have thought that I would cycle this summer about 200km continuously but I have now idea if I am able to do that. This year my longest ride is just 40km so I have to practice until I could ride 200km.
And average speed should be definitely be much more than my regular 18km/h, or biking 200km would take over 10 hours which is just too much. So I have tried to break my speed record on my work travel this week. I tried to get home in half an hour or less but the best time I managed to get is quite exactly half an hour. So I made my new record but did not manage to break my limit. Maybe next week…
But riding home with that speed was much harder than I have thought. And that was about the speed that I would like to ride on 200km ride so I have a long way to go until my shape is good enough.

My bicycle is broke. It has just too much kilometers behind (about 6500km). I noticed that when I looked my back rim and it was split. So, I took it to service. And there I learned that my bike needs more repair than I have thought, all power transmission components are needed to change.
So now I have no city-bike at the moment so I have to use my father’s bike.
But now I am also a happy owner of a new bicycle, this time my new bike is a real mountain-bike with hydraulic disc brakes etc. And it is a very good bike and brakes are just something much much better than normal V-brakes.

Last Saturday was a big day to me but even bigger for my sister. She had her wedding on that day and I was photographing. And I also had to took her official wedding photos so obviously I had some pressure on that day.
I haven’t photographed people earlier at least not much. And those were my first feast here I was taking photos so no much experience. Still my sister trusted me so I didn’t have a choice and luckily those photos were quite successful.
Now I have over 700 photos that I should look through, remove not so successful photos, edit those photos that needs some minor editing etc. And of course select the best photos and publish them on my gallery.

Luckily I had my spare key to my cycle-lock. I managed to remove broken key part from lock and it opened nicely with my spare key. It is very nice that lock makers make good locks that should be hard to break but keys are made from very weak metal that doesn’t work in Finnish winter.
Now I have to buy a new lock, this time I hope that I will find a lock that has good keys so I can open my lock also in winter time.

Cold in winter is nice thing but it has some negative points. Normal lock that is meant to use in bike works well but its key is not. For some reason key is made of some cheap metal that doesn’t work in Finnish climate. I was just going to leave home with my bicycle and I was just opening locks like normally. Expect my cable lock was not opened because its key got broken. It just broke in the middle and another part left in the lock.
I just have to try to get that key part out of the lock tomorrow and try my spare key. If that doesn’t work, well… It is going to be fun then.
