The title says it all. This was a week that I really don’t want to see another time.
It all started on wednesday. I still have no idea why one of our servers decided to reboot itself and managed to mess GRUB installation. All I got in the boot was plain GRUB text, no menu, no booting to operating system. And of course it was that last server that we haven’t had time to migrate to virtual servers yet, so it just couldn’t started on another physical server.
So, couple hours of wednesday was spent in nice, noisy server room trying to revive GRUB, with no success. And then began nice and work-as-fast-as-possible styled migration from old server to new virtualized servers. It is always fun to trying to work faster than it is possible. And trying to understand and remember all configurations and odd file locations. Luckily it seems that now all services are back online, but there is still lot of work to do in next week.
